Charities overtake business in Web 2.0 and Social Media

Recent research by The University of Massachusetts Dartmouths Center for Marketing Research concluded that charitable organisations in the US are outpacing the business world in their use of social media/ web 2.0. Some of the key findings included:                web

  • Seventy-five percent of the charitable organisations studied are using some form of social media including blogs, podcasts, message boards, social networking, video blogging and wikis.
  • More than a third of the organisations are blogging.
  • Forty-six percent of those studied report social media is very important to their fundraising strategy.
  • Majority were monitoring their online reputation.
